Our Statement of Faith

At the Honest Prayer Tribe, our faith is rooted in the eternal Word of God and the finished work of Jesus the Messiah. We boldly declare the following truths:

We Believe

  • The Word of God
We believe that the Bible, composed of both the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” — 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)
  • The Nature of God
We believe in the unity of the one true God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.” — Deuteronomy 6:4 (NLT)
“And now the Sovereign Lord and his Spirit have sent me with this message.” — Isaiah 48:16 (NLT)
  • The Deity of Jesus the Messiah
We believe in the deity of Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah, the promised “seed of the woman,” whose virgin birth was given as a sign to Israel.
“All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” — Isaiah 7:14 (NLT); see also Isaiah 9:6–7
  • The Work of the Messiah
We believe in His sinless life, His miracles, His sacrificial death as our atonement, His bodily resurrection, His post-resurrection appearances, His ascension, and His future return to establish His Kingdom.
  • Salvation Through Grace
We believe that the only means of forgiveness of sin is through repentance and faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Regeneration by the Spirit of God is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” — Ephesians 2:8 (NLT)
  • The Ministry of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who empowers believers to live a godly life.
“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” — Ezekiel 36:26–27 (NLT)
  • The Baptism and Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We believe the promise of the Father—the baptism of the Holy Spirit—is for believers today, along with the spiritual gifts given to edify the Body of Christ.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 (NLT)
See also 1 Corinthians 12:4–10 (NLT).
  • The People of God
We believe that both Jews and Gentiles who place their faith in Messiah Yeshua are one in Him—sons and daughters of Israel by faith.
“And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.” — Galatians 3:29 (NLT)
  • The Resurrection and Judgment
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the saved to everlasting life and the lost to eternal separation from God.
“Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace.” — Daniel 12:2 (NLT)
  • Unity in Messiah
We believe that through Jesus, the dividing wall between Jew and Gentile has been destroyed, making us one family in Him.
“For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.” — Ephesians 2:14 (NLT)
  • The Body of Christ
We believe the Body of Christ is composed of both Jews and Gentiles who have accepted Jesus as Redeemer, called to worship together as one.
“Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 12:13 (NLT)
  • Communion
We believe in the Lord’s Supper as instituted by Jesus, with the bread and the cup serving as symbols of His death and resurrection.
“For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.” — 1 Corinthians 11:26 (NLT)
  • Water Baptism
We believe in the immersion of believers in water, symbolizing the death of the old life and resurrection into new life through Christ.
“For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.” — Colossians 2:12 (NLT)
